The collection and organisation of the images in this book was a long undertaking. Graeme Aplin, an academic from Macquarie University, felt that Sydney Harbour should be more accurately shown as place of trade and commerce, not as just as a place of pleasure and boating. So importantly this book addresses many issues regarding documentation in photography. Also Waterfront Sydney reveals the nature and quality of photo-image making over the years from 1860 to 1920.
